Casting Athletes in Motion
Mark Fleming, an artist in the U.K., showcased a unique project he recently worked on in which he casted certain portions of athletes and photographed the results. “Identifying a link between Greek sculpture and the alabaster-like visuals produced from this method of casting,” said Fleming, “Monument documents, preserves and celebrates outstanding athletic achievement.” The artist truly manages to capture the essential movements of each sport, and the result gives the appearance that the athletes are emerging from a pool of milk.
